Vinylon is a synthetic fibre developed in Japan using water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Due to its high tenacity, high modulus, low elongation, high weather resistance, and high chemical resistance, vinylon is used in many applications, including those involving reinforcement as well as conventional applications including sewing thread for tatami mats or butter muslin.
