International production and local production. Global expansion focusing on Asia.

The Unitika Group is expanding on a global scale based on two methods of operation; international production and local production. International production operates products for the Japanese market, producing high quality products at competitive costs. Local production focuses on international consumer markets and introduces production technologies and facilities not being available in these countries. Production and sales are achieved through a quick response system.

The main domestic production base, located on the banks of the Uji River.

The core of the Unitika Group's production, development, and research is located on the expansive site of the Uji Office, in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. Polymers, and functional material operations are comprehensively linked here, as well as being the main fiber production plant. The Central Research Laboratory, focusing on research and development of Health & Amenities products, is also located here, forming the core essence of the group. Environmentally friendly initiatives are enforced at the Uji Plant, where a gas turbine power plant has been installed. The power plant supplies heat to the office using exhaust heat.

Creation of high added value image, Made In Japan.

The production base for polyester resins, fibers, and nonwoven fabric products is the Okazaki Plant, located in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. It is here that the production and development of the entire group's initiative, Terramac, takes place. A gas turbine has also been installed with the Okazaki Plant. Through the effective use of fuel, the Okazaki Plant has achieved a 15% reduction in energy and 26% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to prior levels. Each production base focuses on a certain field, such as the Tokiwa Mill, concentrating on the production of natural fibers. Domestic production focuses on a high added value image and products of high quality.

Internationally renowned quality Emblem international production bases.

International production and sales bases also play a major role. Emblem, for example, holds a 50% share in the world markets of nylon film for food packaging. Emblem Asia, located in Indonesia and recently undergoing an expansion of facilities, is the main production base to deal with further expansion into international markets. Unitika Emblem China started operations in 2005 in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. With the tremendous economic growth China has experienced in recent years, local production bases for the supply of nylon film have been keeping up with the developments in the processed food industry.

Unitika Emblem China for the Chinese market

The demand for nylon film within China has been growing at a steady rate in the double figures. Unitika Emblem China was established to provide solutions to the needs of users within the future expansion of the Asian market, and is not simply a production base designed to meet supply demand. Onsite personnel training and comprehensive increases in technology and production capabilities are conducted, as well as the thorough provision of feedback on production technologies and administration for each production base with the aim of increasing product quality.
